Try Deki Wiki www.mindtouch.com, it can run on Ubuntu either as a Certified VMware Virtual Image, which gets you up and running in 15 minutes or as source which we have documentation for. Either way, since this is running in a business environment we also have support starting at $495/year.
Deki Wiki's features include authentication locally or against a third party authentication server like LDAP, AD, Joomla, Drupal, Wordpress etc. along with granular permissions to allow read/write/no access.
It is free to download and has an award winning interface, give it a shot today.

Atlassian Confluence is the most popular commercial enterprise wiki, we have over 3,600 active customers, not including non-profit and open source users. One of the hallmark features of Confluence is the ability to determine permissions down to the page level, ie, you can control who can view, edit, or comment in a space or page, create groups, manage individual user permissions, and so forth. It will work with Ubuntu, Linux, or just about anything else ![]()
You can download a free copy at www.atlassian.com/software/confluence.
