I would like to see a listing for the feature
"Paste non-text media from desktop directly into wiki"
I know that none of the wikis have that feature but it's the one thing that prevents me from using wikis for teams on projects that use lots of media. Using something like Exchange shared folders or Lotus Notes BBSes that kind of stuff is invaluable.
All though it seems like nothing the process of manually uploading media and then referencing it through cryptic links is just annoying enough that people start thinking twice whether to go through the effort and basically end up not posting the media.
If copy from desktop and paste into wiki was as smooth it is locally that kind of stuff requires no thought and therefore just happens

New Comparison Feature: Rename / Move pages
Hi,
I'd like to suggest another comparison feature: how can pages be renamed or moved. My experience is that wikis here follow different approaches
- not possible :-(
- somehow manually (e.g. DokuWiki)
- rename with redirect (e.g. mediawiki) --> all references to the page keep the old name
- rename page and references to page --> the page's name is also changed on all pages referencing the page (e.g. swiki, twiki)
- rename page and choose wheather to rename references as well (does any wiki support this?)
Option: Is the URL of the page changed when renamed?
- No
- Redirect (new URL, old will forward)
- Yes (new URL does not reflect the new page name, e.g. is an abstract ID)
Regarding moving pages: Can pages be moved among categories / sub-structures of the wiki (e.g. twiki's "webs"):
- yes
- no
Nevertheless, the matrix is really cool and helpful, thanks for your work!
Many thanks,
Peter

A minor point, but in my experience DokuWiki does a good job of renaming pages through the management interface.

Why not some sort of "importability" metric. Most of the wikis here seem to be able to dump to HTML: can the wikis simply swallow a bunch of HTML files?

Talking about new features to add to wikimatrix:
Known issues (like not supporting http:/dir/file.ext links, because requiring http:// to identify a link)
How about available installers/package formats:
- Windows Installer
- Debian package
- RPM Package
How about being included to some (major) BSD rsp. Linux Dists?
- RedHat
- RedHat Enterprise
- SuSE
- SuSE Enterprise
- Debian
- Ubuntu
Would be cool to preselect what is available on my favourite distro.
Even though a Wiki may appear mature like e.g. Tikiwiki, its documentation might not, like e.g. Tikiwiki
So this might be a separate measure point.

It'd be great to be able to sort the main engine list not just alphabetically but by date of latest release.

Second that suggestion, especially if it includes Wikis which support drag-and-drop reorg of any number of file hierarchies in one go (as telepark.wiki) and internal follow-ups after name changes.

Very true. Direct file attachments to pages, although not as "perfect" as pasting media directly into articles as you suggest, are a big timesaver compared to the conventional upload+link.

Feature comparisons I'd like to see added include...
- Private/public wiki: does the wikisite allow for private wiki's to be created?
- Random page feature: does the wikisite allow for a user to visit a random page within the wiki (like WikiPedia does)?
I hope I'm not wrong that these weren't there yet. I think the first one is especially important.
I hope these can get added!

Hello,
I would like to suggest adding 3 more, which are offered by TikiWiki:
Synchronizing translations:
http://wiki-translation.com/CLWE+Demo+Screencast
Staging and approval:
http://doc.tikiwiki.org/Wiki+Page+Staging+and+Approval
Wiki content conditional to the group:
http://doc.tikiwiki.org/pluginGroup
Best regards,
M ;-)
