Please recommend a Wiki or a DMS.

Hi.

I'm looking for a web-based documents share system. My requirements are listed below. Someone has any suggestions?

1.Easy to use by end-users. Especially easy to upload attachments, like pdf, doc, etc. And it would be better if users can upload several documents in one time.

2.Uploaded documents have description pages. The page content include title, author, abstract, keywords, tags, categories, etc. And these pages should be easy to edit.

3.A powerful seach engine. Can search through the descriptions of documents.

4.Multi-languages interface. UTF-8 support. Can correctly handle attachments with non-english names.

5.Free-software, on linux and apache.

thanks.

Luminotes (http://luminotes.com/) is a personal wiki that meets most of your criteria. It's focused around simple visual editing, so there's no markup language to confuse end-users. You can upload attachments like PDF and DOC files. Luminotes allows simultaneous uploads, but each one must be started individually. And you can create (unstructured) description notes for each uploaded file.

Luminotes' includes a full-text search engine that uses stemming technology, so it would work great for searching through your file descriptions. And it uses UTF-8 so you can input text and filenames in multiple languages.

Lastly, Luminotes is free (GPL) software, built on Linux and Apache.

Witten, thank you very much for you anwser.

I have tried the Luminotes demo. It's a really excellent wiki. But It seems I can't install it on our own server, can't use it in intranet. So I'm keep looking for another. Thank you anyway.

Thuper,

I'm glad to hear you like Luminotes. If you'd like to install it on your own intranet server rather than using the online hosted version, you can download it at http://luminotes.com/download

It does take some system administration knowledge to install. Please feel free to send me an email if you have any problems or questions.

Do also consider eTouch SamePage: http://samepage.spwiki.com and http://www.etouch.net

It meets all your requirements by what I can tell.

Best regards,

Deki Wiki would also fit into your criteria of being open source and running on linux and apache.  Deki Wiki uses Lucene as its search engine which searches the contents of attached files besides just the file name.  You can easily link to documents within wiki pages. Deki Wiki is the first polyglot wiki which will be coming out with our next release.  This allows you to have multiple languages within on instance of Deki Wiki.  I encourage you to download it and give it a shot.  You can download it here: http://wiki.mindtouch.com/Deki_Wiki
