Is there a wiki that lets users create articles that are private until they choose to make them public?
Any advice or pointers would be most welcome.
Thanks

Antonimo,
Take a look at MindTouch. With MindTouch the user can restrict the page private so only them, and other users if they choose, can see and edit the page. When they are ready to share their edits they can then change the status and make it public. Try downloading MindTouch today to test it out: http://www.mindtouch.com/Download
If you have any questions about it, stop by our support page and chat with one of our representatives: http://www.mindtouch.com/support

Hi Corey,
Many thanks for your reply. I went to the site for mindtouch and it appears to be a commercial product. I have nothing against that, but I was unable to find any price information.
Do you know why the pricing is hidden from visitors?

Hello Antonimo.
I'm one of the founders of Swirrl, a hosted wiki provider.
Swirrl allows you to set the permissions on individual articles to be visible/editable by just one user, a group of users, any member of the wiki, or even the whole internet if you choose.
Our plans range from $6 to $179 per month, depending on the features and storage you require (all with unlimited users). There's also a full-featured 30 day free trial (no payment details required), so you can see if Swirrl is right for you.
Please give us a look. If Swirrl isn't for you, I hope you find something that works out for you.
Kind regards,
Ric from Swirrl.

Antonimo,
You can get pricing from one of our sales reps by emailing sales [at] mindtouch.com or pinging one of our support reps in chat at www.mindtouch.com/support and a sales representative will call you. The reason we don't post our prices is to qualify the customer as to which one of our products would best suit them. Below you can see other options that are available for Free. We want to ensure that a user adopts MindTouch and deploys it whether it is one of our Free solutions or one of our Paid.
You may be interested in our open source offering which you can start for free here: http://developer.mindtouch.com or we have a free hosted offering available here: http://www.mindtouch.com/Products/Deki_Express
These are great ways to get started and then down the road if you want support/additional functionality, you can upgrade.

Basically any moderately advanced wiki engine that supports user permissions lets you set this up, using groups, user rights, access control lists and such. I think you can search the wikimatrix for wikis that can restrict user permissions, I would start there.

Antonimo,
You can easily create private content in SamePage http://www.etouch.net and make it public later. Content can be made private at both the page and project level, and for individuals and groups.
Best,
SamePage Team

No, it's not. All good wikis, like Wikidot for example, will allow you to create private content, anything from a single page to a complete intranet, and have mixed public and private content.
