Dear Wiki Community,
I'm totally excited with the idea of implementing a wiki in the company that I work for. Your website has been extremely helpful and I have made my selection for an excellent intranet wiki (TWiki). I have easily implemented it and have shown the immediate results to my immediate bosses. They liked it despite the "Open Source" tag. However when they took the case to IT they rejected it because they were evaluating Sharepoint 2007 which they mention includes wiki capabilities besides the strong CMS capabilities. I haven't been able to find any concrete documentation on its capabilities but I'm pretty sure that if you include Sharepoint 2007 wiki, the community could figure them out and it would be a pretty good base for proving that a lot of the wiki options presented in this wiki site are much better than "just some wiki capabilities".
Thanks and keep the good work!

hi,
i am also "forced" to investigate whether sharepoint2007-wiki has at least equal capabilities than mediawiki. i would highly appreciate that it will be added to the matrix

Peter,
I checked out the discussion topic you mentioned, but it doesn't provide the details that wikimatrix comparison gives (as a matter of fact the participants of that discussion share my frustration with the lack of information about sharepoint 2007 wiki capabilities). I need to know exactly what is lacking in sharepoint 2007 that TWiki can deliver with the level of detail that wikimatrix provides (which by the way it seems to be the most comprehensive for wiki comparison).
Thanks for your reply,

Here's my vote to include SharePoint 2007 in the wikimatrix.

To get a product listed here we need to be contacted by an expert of the application (eg. a developer, heavy user, marketing department) who is willing to maintain the product record.
If you want Sharepoint listed, I recommend bugging their support people, pointing them to
http://www.wikimatrix.org/wiki/become_a_maintainer and ask them to join the Matrix.

That's a bummer...It ends up being a circular reference:
- I am not a developer for Sharepoint 2007 wiki module and my chances of getting anyone from Microsoft to contact you and commit to maintain it are close to null ![]()
- I'm not a heavy user, cause I'm trying to evaluate which of two wikis I should use in first place.
I thought this wikimatrix site could act as any other wiki (despite the fact that its a forum) in which your team could start a topic (set the framework) and the wiki community could update it with the capabilities that they experience in their usage/testing...then if interested, even the developers of Sharepoint 2007's wiki capabilities could also chime in.

Unfortunately I do not know enough about SharePoint 2007 to give an informed opinion. I heard that it only has basic wiki features and that the documentation is sparse. Certainly I'd be interested to see a comprehensive feature comparison table at TWiki:Codev.SharePointVsTWiki.

Sharepoint comparision will be very helpful. To put SharePoint wiki capabilities on the radar for comparision as more and more organization have started looking at SharePoint as an integrated solution for collaboration and other capabilities such as workflow,..

I've posted to an MSDN forum asking MS to put the MOSS wiki features into wikimatrix.
Feel free to add to it.

I would like to see Sharepoint compared too.
I doubt Microsoft is willing to put it on here for comparison, so it will probably be up to a heavy user.

Hopefully if MS sees how many people are interested and would like to know more, they won't be able to resist.
Please post your support in one focused area they will notice, their developer forum!
