Hi,
things called wysiwyg here are usually button sets for inserting wiki syntax.
This is not wysiwyg imho, the user still has to crawl through (possibly cryptic) syntax looking for places to edit or insert, while looking at previews. If you assume the user doesn`t understand the syntax, this is an unnecessary burden.
Still some wikis have true wysiwyg, (totally avoiding syntax, i guess) - like xwiki, foswiki and many hosted solutions.
Real wysiwyg is what I`m searching for, and I think WikiMatrix should make distinction of buttons for easy syntax, and real wysiwyg.

Hi,
Do have a look at SamePage's WYSIWYG editor - it truly gives the level of functionality and intuitiveness that one would expect.
Check out some snapshots: http://www.etouch.net/products/collabor … _wiki.html

Hello,
just have a look on http://www.wikimatrix.org/show/Drupal-Wiki on the lower page. You see, that we dont even describe a Wiki-Syntax there but state, its all integrated into the WYSIWYG editor. There is simply no need for the new generation wikis to let the user learn some new syntax.
You watch some demonstration videos on the website (http://drupal-wiki.com)

Hi!
I share your question/concern about WYSIWYG editors vs tools to insert the wiki syntax.
I understand the pressure for WYSIWYG. But sometimes, wiki syntax is just more appropriate, which is why several wiki engines have both. Ex.: Twiki/Foswiki use TinyMCE. Tiki uses CKEditor
I think you should (depending on your use case) think twice about totally forgoing Wiki Syntax. Recommended reading:
