Difference between Yes, Optional, Plugin and Patch?

What's the Difference between Yes, Optional, Plugin and Patch?

Some Features may be included in the standard install of a Wiki (marked as yes), others are available but can be disabled or enabled in the Wiki's configuration (Optional). Many Wiki engines can use plugins which are seperately downloadable. These plugins are usually very simple to install. Other wikis do not have a plugin concept so feature additions have to be integrated into the source code of the wiki. If descriptions of how to add a feature by modifying the source are available these features are marked with Patch

Re: Difference between Yes, Optional, Plugin and Patch?

[I'm currently pending a registration of an engine, but am wondering in advance]

The homepage for my wiki engine has a download tool that lets you select what plugins to download and preconfigure with the wiki itself.  So, while they can be downloaded separately (they are in a separate package), the standard method of downloading gets whichever you choose with it, which makes it more like "optional" than "plugin" ...  Which should this be classified as?

I would still categorize them as Plugin because they are not part of the core code and can be downloaded separately - which are the main features of a plugin.
