Hi folks,
I am looking for some wisdom from this forum regarding a project I am heading.
Here are the specifics.
1. Execs want a wikisite dedicated as an online contact list.
2. List will include name, address, etc....to about 15 pieces if information per entity/person.
3. Current list is an excel database with about 12,000 entries.
4. Execs want a working model of how this will look & feel.
5. Future plan MAY include merging into Sharepoint 3.0 which the company is upgrading too. Time is unknown.
For the test purposes.
1. Free & hosted.
2. Ability to make forms, forms, & more forms.
3. Keep it simple and idiot proof since this will eventually flow to 3,500 users who are not very tech saavy.
I have been banging my head against the wall since I am just ramping up my knowledge base with wiki's. This project was dropped on me and was currently being worked by an IT person has since left the company.
Any thoughts would be great!
Thx,
C.

Well a contact list isn't particularly suited to Wiki markup itself. (Ie, 'WikiText' isn't a database, it is sort of a simplified markup language similar to HTML.)
That said, I would download TikiWiki and set up a tracker for that if you wanted (at least in the future) other content there.
'Trackers' in Tikiwiki are a bit of a misnomer: they were originally designed as a bug tracker for TikiWiki itself, but are really a general purpose database, great for quick prototyping and even usability when prototypes become production...

Hello marclaporte
Do take a look at SamePage: http://samepage.spwiki.com (this is a free, hosted 30-day trial)
SamePage has templates that can be used to create pages with predefined formats (much like a form). These can also be used to define forms.
Thanks
