Access keys, also known as “keyboard shortcuts”, are a way to allow quick access to certain areas on a webpage, usually form fields, text boxes or menus, instead of clicking on them or using tab to reach them.

Access keys are often used in accessibility design of a site and to help visually impaired people access a site or page.
