WYSIWYG

WYSIWYG – short for “What you see is what you get” – is a well known feature of word processing tools like MS Word or OpenOffice. It means all formatting is directly applied and visible in the text and no special syntax used. Experienced users often dislike those editors but they make editing for inexperienced users much simpler.

Only very few Wiki engines, such as Perspective, Confluence, TWiki, SamePage, Wikispaces, DekiWiki, Wetpaint, and MoinMoin, (kwiki) XWiki, have true WYSIWYG editors, but some have Toolbar helping users with the syntax.

Some companies have plugins that can be integrated with any wiki out there.
